Tanned Beauty is passionate about providing a safe and beautiful alternative to traditional tanning methods with good reason. I was diagnosed with skin cancer when my first son was just six weeks old. That was a scary time in my life. I was trying to balance my life as a new mother and then was told that I would need to have surgery on my forehead in order to remove the cancer. It grew rampantly during my pregnancy, and I honestly thought it was just one of those "spots" you get while being pregnant. It was not very large on the outside, but what was growing in my tissue below was quite large. I wasn't a regular at the dermatologist office and had only been once or twice before in my life. It was a blessing to catch the skin cancer in time before it spread any further. I chose to have Moh's surgery to remove it and had I not, it would have continued to grow and my face would have been disfigured. Your face is what most people notice first about you, and that would have just been devastating.
I am fair skinned and originally from the Northeast, but I grew up a Southern girl in Texas with a swimming pool in my backyard. It was common practice for me to lay out by the pool and attempt to achieve a beautiful tan. By high school I was visiting a tanning bed regularly to try and obtain a base tan and get the color I dreamed of. I never thought it would lead to this. I now live as a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen girl and have been told I must protect myself this way for the rest of my life. It is important to me as a wife & mother of two to remain healthy, so I accepted the fact that I can no longer lay in the sun or under UV bulbs. Eventually I grew tired of being pale and my research lead me to airbrush tanning. I was nervous when I was first sprayed, but I was absolutely thrilled with my results!!
